Education Therapy with Mare Langlois offers a small classroom setting for 4 students - 2 special education teachers (for students with dyslexia, learning disabilities, or other special needs) and 2 regular teachers. After school, (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.) tutoring is provided (usually 1 teacher to 1 student) - includes all grades and subjects. Tutoring is available off campus at schools and in individual homes. Education Therapy uses a unique effective method to teach reading and spelling. A magnetic board includes all phonemes and ways to spell any word. A hierarchy of 15 concepts guarantee mastery of the code of reading. 15-20 instructional sessions insure at least one full grade level gain in word attack skill. Students are taught to visualize and verbalize what they read to aid in comprehension, the only method of improving reading comprehension that works! Students' teachers, parents, speech therapists, and OT's facilitate a team approach. Services at Education Therapy include: one on one and group instruction using multi-sensory teaching, counseling, advocacy, art therapy, and Lindamood Bell: Seeing Stars (spelling), LIPs (reading), Cloud (math). |
